A new video from SGEU, CUPE and SEIU gives us a glimpse into the work done by community support workers.

So often the work of supporting families in our communities is invisible. But providing care-givers with a break, and giving meaningful and stimulating activities to adults with developmental disabilities is the human part of each community.

SGEU has been working in coalition with CUPE and SEIU on behalf of community services members, who work in group homes, child care centres, crisis centres and a range of other agencies. These workers provide services to some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. While the work done by CBO employees is essential, it has been undervalued and underpaid.

November 6th is Community Social Service Workers Day of Appreciation. Take the time to let these workers know they are valued.
